Articles about RSS.

RSS - Explained

RSS for many means Really Simple Syndication.

RSS distributes the electronic content, no matter what its nature may be.

There are TWO parts:

The Content and the Reader

RSS readers are also called "RSS aggregators" or "news aggregators" because you'll find that RSS feeds are like peanuts. You can't stop at one.

You will mold a collection (an "aggregation") of "RSS feeds" from all your favorite sources. You'll constantly have your finger on the pulse of topics related to your business, hobbies, stocks, sports, and other interests.

Your favorite parts of the Web will come to you! Think of how you normally surf now... you visit your favorite sites, figure out (somehow) "what's new," often come up empty, move on to another site... what a waste of time.

It's such a waste of time that you rarely revisit most sites. Even the most interesting bookmarks gather dust. As a result, you miss out on information that's important to you.

Not any more!

OK, set yourself up with a reader and then c'mon back...

1) Win users
RssReader has a good following... (over a 1,600,000 downloads)

It is simple, and easy to use. I recommend that you use this one as your first reader.

If you have a slow internet connection and would rather order the .net Framework on DVD for $4.95, go to: https://www.interactservices.com/msftdotnetdvd/Products.asp

If you want to see another example of an RSS reader, try BlogExpress, which is "free" (be nice and make a donation through PayPal if you like it) and solid...
This is the one that I started with, but I prefer RSSReader, now. Get BlogExpress at:
http://www.usablelabs.com/productBlogExpress.html

Get it installed and then come back and subscribe to this feed.

If you want to try several before deciding...

It should be fast and simple to download, install, and start adding feeds. If it's not, move on.

2) Mac users
NetNewsWire has a free trial and is the best of a smaller selection (it's the one that a Mac user friend of mine uses)...
